Avery's 1st Gotcha Day in the USA

For Avery's first "Gotcha Day" in the USA we decided to have lunch with grandma and cousin Dylan. That evening we wanted to try something different so we went to the loop and tried Jilly's Cupcake Bar. Man, was that ever good! Avery wasn't sure about eating a cupcake at first. She picked at it, licked it and then decided to eat it. She did a pretty good job. The owner, Jilly, was taken with Avery. She thought that she was so pretty (I tend to agree:)) and how special it was that we were spending her gotcha day at her establishment. She decided to allow Avery to pick out the adorable pink hat (which you see towards the end of the slide) as a gift to her for "gotcha". We had a great time and look forward to next years Gotcha Day festivities. We love you baby girl!

Departure - One Year Ago TODAY!!

One year ago today we departed Missouri heading for Vietnam. I will never forget the emotional roller coaster that day: scared to leave Owen for so long but excited to finally be getting our precious little girl, Avery.

Summer Concert Series

Scott listens to a local country radio station and happened to be listening the day that they were giving away concert tickets. He had to answer the question of..."name 5 characters off of the movie Cars?". Well, that was easy considering we watched it practically daily for a number of weeks. So, he won the concert tickets and we went to see Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts last night. It was an awesome concert! The weather was perfect and the crowds were amazing (it was sold out). I have never seen a concert opening quite like Rascal Flatts. It was phenomenal!!!

Scott and I were married. Wow! I can't believe that it has already been 8 years.

Scott brought yellow roses to me at work. I later asked him "why yellow" and he said I needed yellow since I was his best friend - if you are here with us often then you know the joke about best friends with Owen (hehehe).

Since our anniversary happened to fall on a week day we had my mom come play with Owen and Avery and we went to dinner. It was nice to be able to sit, talk (adult conversation) and eat without being interupted with I need this or I have to go potty! Anyway, Happy Anniversary Scott!

S'Mores Anyone?

Avery's class has been finishing a unit on camping. To close the unit they decided to have smores for snack. Avery apparently enjoyed them.

Preparing for a Garage Sale

I sat back and looked at ALL of the toys that Owen and Avery have and no longer play with. Many of which are less than 6 months old!!! These toys are like brand new. So, even though I HATE garage sales (or junk sales), I have decided to participate in our neighborhood garage sale which will be held on June 21st. I have attached a slide of some of our toys just in case someone may be interested.

Pre-Pike for Owen & Playdate for Avery

We signed Owen up for swimming lessons through our local YMCA. We feel that we need to get him into the water as much as possible since he is scared to death of it. He hates being splashed and often freaks out when he is. So, his first class was today. He and his favortie cousin, Dylan are enrolled in the Pre-Pike class.

Avery has been sick with yet another sinus infection and has been running a temperature. So, she had a visitor this past weekend. Her BFF (I am smiling Kim), Kyla came to play. The girls had a ball with the kitchen set.
